How do I care for my vinyl tonneau cover?
The vinyl fabric on your tonneau cover can be cleaned with mild soap and water, and may be hand washed or safely cleaned in the car wash of your choice. Thoroughly rinse cover to remove any soap residue. Vinyl cover can be treated with any vinyl protectants made for tonneau covers. Never clean cover with petroleum or citrus-based products, and avoid silicone based protectants. We now offer Pro-Tex™ soft tonneau protectant spray to clean, preserve and protect your soft tonneau.
How can I improve the seal of my tonneau cover?
Although no tonneau cover is completely waterproof, the TruXedoPlus® tonneau cover will help to keep rain, snow, and dust out of the bed of your truck. Since different types of bed liners and bed rails may affect how the tonneau fits at the front of the bed, each kit includes two small pieces of weather seal. This weather seal can then be fitted into the front corners of the truck bed, further helping to keep elements out of the bed. There is also a seal between the toolbox and tonneau cover to reduce leaking.
How do I adjust the tension on my tonneau cover?
The TruXedoPlus® has a tension control system located in the toolbox, under the lid. There is a bolt on each side of the toolbox that can adjust the position of the toolbox. By adjusting the toolbox position, you can create more or less tension in the tonneau cover. Refer to the TruXedoPlus® Owners Manual for more specific information.
I have a toolbox on my truck already? Can I use the cover portion of the TruXedoPlus® with my existing toolbox?
No. The tonneau portion of the TruXedoPlus® is specifically made to work with the TruXedoPlus® toolbox. The toolbox and tonneau assemblies of the TruXedoPlus® must be used together to form a complete kit.
Will the TruXedoPlus® work with my other truck accessories?
Yes! The unique inside mount design of the TruXedoPlus® rails enables you to accessorize with most bed rails, bed liners, and rail caps.
Can I lock the TruXedoPlus®?
The TruXedoPlus® tonneau secures automatically when latched at the rear, and provides added security when used with a locking tailgate. It can not be opened until the tailgate is unlocked and opened. There are no additional locks or sliding mechanisms needed to lock the cover. The TruXedoPlus® toolbox locks with a concealed push-button latch on the driver’s side.
Will the TruXedoPlus® work in the winter as well as in the summer?
The tonneau cover fabric will not shrink in cold temperatures, to –40 degrees F.
Will the TruXedoPlus® work with a 5th wheel?
Yes! Simply roll the cover all the way open and secure with security straps just behind the toolbox. This allows you full access to your 5th wheel.
Can I still open my tailgate with the TruXedoPlus® on my truck?
Yes – the TruXedoPlus® tonneau cover does not restrict the tailgate. The rear header functions independently of the tailgate so there is nothing to remove when opening the tailgate.
Does the TruXedoPlus® come in different colors?
The TruXedoPlus® toolbox lid is powder-coated black and is not available in any other color.
The TruXedoPlus® fabric is also available in black only.
I have a bed extender. Will the TruXedoPlus® work with it?
The TruXedoPlus® side rails extend 2 3/4” into the bed on each side. In order to use the bed extender, it must not come within 3” of the side of the bed when rotated, or it must be able to detach from the truck, be manually rotated and re-attached.
I have an older truck and I don’t see the year in the application guide. Can I still get a TruXedoPlus® for my truck?
The TruXedoPlus® is not custom made and is limited to the current applications listed on the Applications page.
I have a truck with a utility track system in the bed. Can I still use a TruXedoPlus®?
Many of the late-model trucks have a utility track system to make the truck bed more accessory and user-friendly. We research all of the new trucks to make sure we have the best hardware to attach the TruXedoPlus® to the truck. The hardware kits for these beds include modified clamps that will work with the various utility track systems. I live in a region that is very hot. Will the TruXedoPlus® fabric fade in the sun?
The fabric used in the TruXedoPlus® is very high quality and has been tested in extreme conditions. It is UV-protected and will not fade in the sun.
I live in a region that gets a lot of heavy snow. Can the TruXedoPlus® hold the snow without bending or stretching?
The fabric used in the TruXedoPlus® is very high quality and has been tested in extreme conditions. It can hold up to 350 pounds without stretching the fabric. The toolbox weight limit is about 150 pounds.
I would like to install the TruXedoPlus® myself. How long will it take to install it myself?
Typically, the TruXedoPlus® can be installed in about 45 minutes. It requires a 9/16” wrench to tighten the 6 clamps that attach the side rails to the inside of the truck bed. Why is there a hole punched on the rear of the passenger side rail of the TruXedoPlus®, but no latch present?
The reason the rails are all punched the same way is to keep them uniform, for manufacturing efficiency and to reduce tooling costs. By doing this, we are able to keep manufacturing time down to get you your orders faster and also to keep the price of our products lower.
